Holmfirth
Holmfirth is set against the glorious backdrop of the South Pennine hills on the doorstep of the Peak District National Park. Yorkshire’s most famous TV series, Last of the Summer Wine was filmed here for many years. Quaint ‘mountain goat’ buses leave regularly outside Sid’s Cafe to clamber through the narrow cobbled streets and hamlets. You will see pretty stone weavers’ cottages dotting the hills and valleys of this scenic area. A stroll around the little market town’s cobbled alleyways will bring you to tearooms, cafes, art galleries, craft shops and Nora Batty’s famous front steps. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and bistros offering great Yorkshire hospitality and value.
Accommodation is available in traditional self catering cottages, pubs, hotels, bed and breakfasts or on caravan and camping sites. All offer great value and friendly service.
Holmfirth offers a central base for outstanding walking, touring and exploring. Huddersfield, Sheffield, Manchester and Leeds are all within easy travelling distance for visiting museums, art galleries or shopping.
Holmfirth is on the A635/A6024 south of Huddersfield with easy access to the M1 and M62 motorways.
