Hebden Bridge
Hebden Bridge has an interesting reputation as a liberal, artistic and creative community; its character is enhanced by the sweeping hills and open countryside around it. Hebden Bridge has a few claims to fame apart from its industrial heritage associated with the Rochdale canal, which passes through the town on its way to Todmorden. The Bronte sisters wrote their famous novels just a few miles away in Haworth and the American poet, Sylvia Plath is buried at Heptonstall on the hill overlooking Hebden Bridge. The poet Laureate Ted Hughes was also born in Mytholmroyd, two miles away.
