Filey
Filey is a Victorian seaside town with fine buildings and a charming town centre. There are plenty of shops, but they are not the usual high street variety. They are more âtraditionally localâ with tea shops and restaurants, pubs, antiques and bric-a-brac, newsagents and hardware stores.
A walk on Filey Brigg will reveal some of North Yorkshireâs favourite coastline birds including puffins, kittiwakes and guillemots; the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is also nearby. Organised boat trips are held during the summer months along the impressive coastline. Walking is popular with lots of coastal paths; Filey is the finishing point of the Yorkshire Wolds Way. There is a local folk festival held each year and for 2012 it runs from 4th May to 6th May.
Hotels and bed and breakfasts all offer relaxing places to stay with good value for money in the area. There are also holiday parks which are self catering with accommodation ranging from caravans, holiday homes and tents. Local farms offer converted stables and barns which are now luxury holiday cottages. There are plenty of restaurants and local pubs serving good value, home cooked, fresh food.
